Kearsley Heritage

Kearsley's heritage is rooted in the centuries-old wool trade of northern England, particularly Yorkshire, and Lancashire. The name Kearsley has evolved through various spellings over time and has thrived since the late middle ages. As early as 1262, the fabric of Kersey, an exclusively English wool product, was first made in Andover, Hampshire. Directly connected to this history, Heather Kearsley Wolf's ancestors owned several textile mills in Lancashire and Yorkshire, primarily around the Bolton area before immigrating to the United States in the late 19th century. Despite the industry's notorious poor working conditions, Heather was struck by her discovery of her great- great-great-grandfather's efforts to improve and standardize the workers' conditions in his mill. This legacy continues to inform Kearsley's emphasis on artisanship and sustainability, ensuring that every Kearsley linen is created with the highest environmental and craftsmanship standards in mind. By paying fair wages to a small group of artisans, we at Kearsley Couture continue to carry on this legacy of ethical manufacturing and attention to detail.

Our Quality

At Kearsley Couture, we are passionate about creating the most luxurious and high-quality linens in the world. Our commitment to excellence begins with our careful selection of the finest fibers for each category of our products. We work with only the most skilled and experienced family-run artisans in Italy to create fabrics that are truly exceptional.

To ensure that our linens are of the highest possible quality, we source our materials from the most reputable producers in the world. Our linen is made from the finest flax grown in Belgium, while our cotton, including the renowned Giza 87, is the longest and strongest cotton on earth. Our cashmere is 100%

pure and woven in Italy and Scotland with unparalleled quality.

We are also dedicated to sustainability, and we work with our suppliers to ensure that all our materials are grown and processed in ways that meet the highest environmental standards of the European Union. Fabrics like our Lenzing™ Modal are made with natural, low environmental impact materials that are biodegradable and compostable, making them an eco-friendly choice.

At Kearsley, we believe in perfection in every detail of our linens, including the sewing. Our team creates the strongest, long-lasting sheets that are vital to longevity. We prioritize the senses of our clients, tailoring the feel of our linens to their preferences and the benefits to their hair and skin.

We also believe in reverse engineering bed linens, considering the ideal temperature of the sleepers, local climate, and other special considerations to create the perfect sleeping environment. Heather Kearsley is available as part of our Bespoke/Couture program to help create just the right linens for our clients.

We are proud to partner with Norvegr, who makes the best down products in the world with three generations of great care for performance, craftsmanship, environmental and animal responsibility. The flax we use to make our linen is the finest grown in Belgium. Our cotton — especially the Giza 87 — is literally the finest cotton on earth. It is the longest, strongest and we are honored to be able to weave with it. Our cashmere is 100% cashmere, woven in Italy and Scotland and is the finest of quality. Fabrics, like our Lenzing™ Modal, are made with the environment in mind. They are made with natural, low environmental impact materials that are also biodegradable and compostable like the rest of our fibers. None of our fabrics require finishing with chemicals. Because of the quality of our fibers, spinning and weaving, our fabrics are healthier and only get softer with time.

Kearsley is fanatical about perfection in our sewing. Our team creates the strongest, long-lasting sheets. Long fibers and sewing are vital to longevity. Our coloring meets the EU's highest ecological standards and is incredibly colorfast. As you can see

in some of our photos, you can put our white or ivory next to our black or navy and the colors do not run. They stay true.

We believe in reverse engineering bed linens. We start our custom design process by considering the ideal temperature of the sleepers. We account for the local climate, whether the sleepers are sharing a bed, air conditioning, and season. Special considerations, including laundry, are also factored in. Above all, we prioritize the senses of our clients. The feel of perfect sheets is tailored to their preferences and the benefits to their hair and skin. This is where Kearsley can be a big help to create a bed that works beautifully for you, your family, or your clients.  Then, with some guidance, you can (or we can) design linens that look the way you desire to maximize the beauty of the space they are in.

Heather Kearsley is available as a part of our Bespoke/Couture program to meet with you to create just the right linens. We are glad to help you over the phone or via email, as well, to select the best linens for your needs.
